The Digital Platforms Way

How we build, and why it works here.

Four principles that shape every project, from a client store to our own products.

01

Mobile before desktop

Most of our users meet our work on a mid-range Android phone, often on a busy network. We design and test for that first, then scale up to larger screens. If it works well there, it works everywhere.

  • Test on a real mid-range Android, not just a laptop
  • Keep pages light: fewer scripts, compressed images
  • Thumb-sized buttons and short forms
02

Local payments by default

In Kenya, money moves through M-Pesa. When a product takes payments, M-Pesa is part of the first sprint, with the edge cases handled: timeouts, cancelled PIN prompts and reversals.

  • STK push, C2B and B2C where they fit
  • Clear states for pending, paid and failed
  • Reconciliation built in, not left to spreadsheets
03

Context is a feature

Language, culture and how people really pay and travel shape the product itself, not just the copy. We write in Kiswahili and English, and design around how customers actually behave.

  • Copy that works in Kiswahili and English
  • Familiar patterns over imported ones
  • Respect for data costs and shared phones
04

Ship, then sharpen

We release in small steps, put work in front of real users early, and keep an honest changelog of what's changed. Clients see progress weekly, not at the end.

  • Working software from the first weeks
  • A public changelog for our own products
  • Decisions written down, so nothing is lost

Let's build something people here will actually use.

Tell us about your product, your customers and your deadline. We read every brief and reply personally.
